What we do

As a club of like-minded cyclists, we like nothing more than to get out onto the road and have some fun.

What we do

Every week we have new routes to explore, carefully designed to offer something for everyone. These routes are shared on Strava and so are available for download to your GPS device. We start on Sunday morning for a coffee ride.

The route is generally 30 miles in length and we include longer and more challenging routes should anyone be preparing for a sportive or event.

Saturday morning is time for a longer, more challenging route, exploring the beautiful Kent and East Sussex countryside.

Throughout the week there are more rides which are arranged in an informal manner by individual members and communicated via Whatsapp.

Whilst all club members are encouraged to challenge and push themselves we operate a strict “no drop” policy meaning no rider will be left behind. Faster riders can, of course, push for that favourite segment or hill but will pause to allow our peloton to regroup.

Club Rules

We have a few simple rules to follow whilst out on the roads which are obviously in place in order to keep our club riders safe.

1

No groups larger than 10 riders. Where there is more than 1 group on the road the members abilities and experience should be mixed within the multiple groups.
2

Call out potholes as a warning for following riders.
3

Warn the group of oncoming traffic. “Car up” for oncoming traffic and “car back” for traffic approaching from behind the group.
4

Try to be as predictable as possible to following traffic – avoid excessive weaving and remain approximately 1 metre from the curb, where road conditions allow.
5

Follow the Highway Code and especially never jump red traffic lights or ride on pavements not designated as cycle paths.
6

Riding 2 or 3 abreast is ok on quiet roads but where traffic is around it is safer and more considerate to ride in single file. DO NOT wave traffic past – this is a decision for the following driver.
7

Wearing club kit is encouraged during club rides, although not compulsory.
8

It is useful to use your own GPS device on group rides in order to utilise the route guidance features. It is obviously not mandatory that every member invests in such a device but we do expect at least one member of each ride to be so equipped so they can lead their group. This group leader is also responsible to ensure our no drop rule is actioned.
9

Bring tubes and tools to mend your own bike on rides.
10

White bib shorts are not permitted in any circumstance. The wearing of white bib shorts will result in immediate and violent ejection from the club.
