Our frequently asked questions can help you learn more about the club and how we operate. If you have any other questions, please contact us.

How much does it cost to join?

Annual membership is £25. You can apply to join via the British Cycling website or by getting in contact with Jason Wilkins on 07851 234698 and Facebook. Find out more about joining.

When do we ride?

The most popular ride is the Sunday Social ride. A more serious, faster ride is also planned every Saturday morning. During the week our members are encouraged to arrange smaller rides on an ad hoc basis.

Organised weekend rides set off from Clavadal Road off Paddock Wood High Street at 9am during GMT and 8am during BST.

Each ride is organised on Strava as an event and you will receive your invitation via Strava and email.

What type of bike do I need?

A road bike is preferred but hybrids and e-bikes are also welcome.  We only ride on roads so mountain bikes or BMXs are not suitable.

What should I expect on a ride?

Rides tend to be around 30-40 miles in length and using a good mix of local hilly and flat areas. If the route passes a popular coffee shop then a stop is encouraged.

We split the ride into speed groups, as follows; typically the pace is 12-14 mph for Group C, 14-16mph for Group B and 16mph + for Group A. A Sunday Social ride typically takes 2-3 hours to complete.

The Saturday ride is not split into groups and the pace is higher and does not typically stop for a break.

Do I need to book?

You do not need to book but we do ask that you check your attendance on the Strava event so we have an idea of numbers to expect.

How do I buy kit?

Our kit comes from Kalas and we must fulfil a minimum order quantity so we gather everyone’s requirement and place our order once we have enough for Kalas to manufacture. Once ordered, the club pay the Kalas invoice and the individual pays the club. We try to place an order, if numbers allow, every quarter.

Are women welcome?

Yes, women are more than welcome. Please contact our Ladies Captain Sam Wilkins on 07397 380088 for more details.
